Our Team

Laura Edison

Creative Director & Senior Tutor

Since joining us in 2019, Laura has directed The Little Mermaid Jr, Fame Jr, The Haunted Museum (an original show which she also wrote for us), Broadway at Barrfields, Broadway Brunch, our community production of Oliver, our sell out smash hit Matilda Jr, and our MTI Jr Festival performance of Legally Blonde which won the Award for Acting.

In addition to directing and writing for us Laura devises our programme and curriculum, and teaches in class. She has relaunched our DramaTots programme working with a licensed speech and language pathologist to develop her DramaLlama phonics curriculum, and she was instrumental in devising over 150 hours of online Zoom lessons during the Covid lockdowns.

After initially studying theatre at University, Laura changed path and has established a career as a legal consultant whilst raising her own family. But theatre has always been a major part of her life, for over 35 years (gulp!)

She trained with Peggy Inglis, Step-by-Step, and latterly GAMTA in Glasgow.  As an actor she has played leading roles in Steel Magnolias, Calendar Girls, The Importance of Being Earnest, Paras Over the Barra’s and multiple comic, goodie and baddie principal roles in pantomimes in Largs and Glasgow.

With her own production company Pint Size, she has produced, written, directed and acted in a variety of theatre across the West Coast. She is known to more adult audiences as the writer and producer of adult pantos and her comedy duo act The Scrubbers which has toured Scotland including sold out runs at the Glasgow Comedy Festival.

As a former President of Largs Players she has long been committed to access to the arts for all ages in Largs, and in addition to acting for the club, she has directed (and written/co-written) their pantomimes Jack & The Beanstalk, Peter Pan, Beauty & The Beast, Snow Queen, Believe, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.
